YEREVAN. – There is a tactical pairs’ game between the first and the second presidents of Armenia.

Political analyst Stiopa Safaryan, who is also a member of the opposition “Barev [Hello], Yerevan” faction at the capital city Yerevan Council, stated the above-said at a press conference on Wednesday, and in response to the query on the likelihood of second President Robert Kocharyan’s return to politics.

“[The opposition] Heritage [Party] probably will not support [Kocharyan’s return] because there are people within the party who possess a clearly marked negative attitude towards Kocharyan.

“I believe the [opposition Armenian National Congress party] ANC likewise will not support [it]. But on the other hand, it is apparent that there is a tactical pairs’ game between the first [i.e., ANC leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan] and the second presidents, [and] against [incumbent President] Serzh Sargsyan.

“[But] I may be wrong, if the matter of power sharing becomes much more dominant and they [Ter-Petrosyan and Kocharyan] come to an agreement on who will have what dose of power should he [Kocharyan] return [to politics],” Safaryan maintained.
