YEREVAN. – Yazidis living in Armenia are urging the world community to arm their compatriots in Iraq, spiritual leader of Armenian Yazidis said during a press conference on Thursday.
Bro Gasanyan said massacres against Yazidis are encouraged by the leader of Iraqi Kurdistan Masud Barzani.
Another participant, head of Yazidi community Aziz Tamoyan noted that Kurds have ransacked and emptied 70 Yazidi villages near Sinjar.
“Some of the locals were brutally killed, some managed to escape,” he said, adding that 6,000 Yazidis have gathered in Sinjar to protect their compatriots.
Seven villages have been liberated, but they do not have sufficient arms.
“The corpse of people are lying on the ground,” he said.
Gasanyan stressed that Yazidis plan to form a separate autonomy – Yazidistan – as soon as they manage to return the seized lands.
