YEREVAN. – The case in connection with Indian citizen Denish Babu, who had died as a result of a tragedy in Armenia’s capital city Yerevan in November 2013, has been dropped.

The Police General Investigation Committee chairman’s press secretary Sona Truzyan told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“The police have dropped the case on July 31, [and] on the grounds of the absence of crime. A criminal case was initiated against Denish Babu, too, [but] a criminal prosecution was not carried out on the grounds of murder,” Truzyan added.

A stabbing had occurred on the evening of November 16, 2013 in Yerevan. It was found out that Indian citizen Denish Babu Shahab Singh (born in 1985) had made a marriage proposal to Armenian citizen Astghik Aghajanyan in the house which he had rented. But when Aghajanyan had turned down the marriage proposal, Denish Babu had inflicted numerous injuries upon her with a kitchen knife and, subsequently, he committed suicide by cutting the arteries on his neck with the same knife. A criminal case was opened on the incident. Babu’s relatives, however, do not believe it was suicide.
