YEREVAN. – The Armenian side is continuing its efforts to have the body of Armenian citizen Karen Petrosyan—who was killed while in Azerbaijani captivity—returned to Armenia.
Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan told the abovementioned to reporters on Friday.
“Relevant work is being done with the assistance by international organizations,” he added.
To the query on the extent to which the Armenia-Azerbaijan border is solid, considering the fact that the citizens of the two countries find themselves on the other side of the boundary on a regular basis, Ohanyan responded that even though engineering activities on the border are conducted in full capacity, the length of the boundary and the presence of mountains and forests on the border make it impossible to monitor every meter of the boundary.
Karen Petrosyan, a 32-year-old resident of Chinari village of Armenia’s Tavush Region, was captured by the Azerbaijanis on August 7, and on the next day, Azerbaijan informed that the young Armenian man had “suddenly” died of an “acute heart failure.” According to preliminary hypothesis, Petrosyan had gotten lost in the forest, where he had gone to collect wood, and had found himself on the Azerbaijani side of the border.
