If a sub-committee on Nagorno-Karabakh is set up in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), it will mean the Armenian parliamentary majority has slipped up, as today much depends on Armenia’s ruling parties, Stepan Safaryan, Chairman of the oppositional Heritage parliamentary faction, told NEWS.am.

He stressed the Heritage faction has launched an active struggle against such a sub -committee. “We have sent letters on the unacceptability of such a sub-committee to the PACE leaders and members,” Safaryan said. Much depends on Armenia’s ruling parties now.

On June 21, a PACE summer session opens. The PACE Bureau is to discuss the issue of setting up a sub-committee on Nagorno-Karabakh, on PACE President Mevlut Cavusoglu’s initiative. A total of 34 PACE members issued a statement calling for re-establishing the sub-committee on Karabakh.
