YEREVAN. – The rally of the three political parties planned for October 10 will hardly change anything, political analyst Alexander Iskandaryan said.

He believes the so-called “opposition four” is posing no threat to the regime, and the ruling Republican party feels comfortable under current situation.

“The four does not exist, and never existed. Parliamentary forces cannot really come together,” political analyst told reporters.

Iskandaryan is confident that the upcoming rally will not gather more than 2-3 thousand people, which is not enough to bring dramatic changes or stage a coup.

“Opposition leaders understand this, and for this reason it is not clear yet whether they will come to the rally or not. They will appear in an awkward situation to stand in front of a crowd of 500 people,” the expert emphasized.

Iskandaryan believes the problem is not to consolidate the existing opposition groups, but to create opposition.

“The ruling regime is not threatened until serious political forces come to replace 'the four',” he added.
