German Chancellor Angela Merkel plans to visit Armenia next year, Merkel told a press conference after talks with RA President Serzh Sargsyan in Berlin on Tuesday.

She noted she had visited Armenia in the Soviet time and was impressed by Armenian churches. Merkel called Armenian-German relations friendly.

The RA President stressed that official Yerevan considers Armenian-German relations an important component of its foreign policy.

The leaders informed the journalists they had discussed the Karabakh peace process. In this context, the German Chancellor pointed out the OSCE Minsk Group is the best format for resolving the Karabakh conflict.

June 21, Serzh Sargsyan arrived on a three-day official visit to Germany.
