YEREVAN. – The requirement for submitting documents for the products which Armenia’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have acquired is not directed against them, but rather it is a tool that will enable to carry out an oversight of the large businesses.

Deputy Minister of Finance Vakhtang Mirumyan stated the aforementioned at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting, as he reflected on the capital city Yerevan bazaar merchants’ ongoing demonstration outside the Government Building.

“Previously, there was no statutory provision whereby the SME would demand a document from the large [business].

“Only those who do not comply with the provisions of the law will appear in the domain of risk,” the deputy minister stressed.

In turn, Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan noted that they will not tolerate that Armenia’s small and medium-sized enterprises become a platform for tax evasion by the large businesses.

“The large [business] needs to be our target,” the PM added.

Pursuant to the Law on Turnover Tax, which will come into force on October 1, a business enterprise will be warned at first, and, subsequently, it will be fined for not submitting a document on its commodity circulation.
