Turkey’s Foreign Ministry dismissed reports in German media saying Ankara is allegedly developing nuclear weapons.

“Turkey strongly supports measures to disarm the region of nuclear weapons and is a supporter of international agreements in this area, primarily the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons,” the Ministry said.

Ankara's primary goal is to make the Middle East region free from this kind of weapons, ITAR-TASS reported.

The Turkish ministry said it is surprising to see such reports in the media outlets of a country, which, like Turkey, is a NATO member and a participant of the collective security system.
