YEREVAN. – There is only one drawback in Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s address delivered at the 69th Session of the UN General Assembly; there was very little mention about raising the role of the UN.

Opposition MP, former FM Alexander Arzumanyan stated the aforesaid at a press conference on Friday.

“First, it must be realized that the 100th anniversary of the [Armenian] Genocide is coming, and we can raise this matter and speak about this tragedy in any organization.

“Second, father and son [Azerbaijan presidents Heydar and Ilham] Aliyev raise from the UN platform, [and] for already nineteen years, that Armenia is not carrying out the UN Security Council resolutions. In Armenia, they were creating the impression that Armenia is against these resolutions. Serzh Sargsyan, however, this time put an end to these rumors and declared that Armenia is not against these resolutions.

“The third [point] refers to the [Armenian-Turkish] Protocols. It’s good that the president reflected on them, too,” said Arzumanyan.

The opposition MP was positive about the President’s speech at the UN, but he added that there are numerous problems in Armenia’s domestic politics.

“As for Armenian-Turkish relations, we need to work in another format once the protocols are recalled,” Alexander Arzumanyan maintained.
