YEREVAN. – The Armenia National Assembly (NA) delegation, which is led by NA Vice-Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov and is in the Czech Republic on an official visit, on Thursday met with Vojtěch Filip, Vice-President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic, and Zuzka Bebarová-Rujbrová, Chairperson of the Chamber of Deputies Committee on Petitions.
Sharmazanov expressed his satisfaction with the high level of Armenian-Czech interparliamentary relations, and considered it indispensable to further invigorate parliamentary cooperation, Sharmazanov’s staff informed.
The Armenia NA deputy chair also reflected on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, noted that Armenia supports solely a peaceful settlement to this matter, and stressed that there is no alternative to the exercising of the Nagorno-Karabakh people’s right to self-determination.
In turn, the Czech party reaffirmed its willingness to display, at the Chamber of Deputies, several exhibits from the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan. The Czech parliamentarians informed the Armenian parliament vice-speaker that this exhibition will be held before April 24, 2015; that is, the day of the centennial of the genocide.
Sharmazanov extended his gratitude to the Czech side, and expressed the hope that the Czech parliament likewise will recognize the Armenian Genocide ahead of its 100th anniversary, and join those countries that have condemned this tragedy as a crime against humanity.
At the end of the talk, Eduard Sharmazanov invited Vojtěch Filip and Zuzka Bebarová-Rujbrová to the international conference, titled “Against the Crime of Genocide,” which will be held on April 22 and 23, 2015, in Yerevan.
