YEREVAN. - According to official data, in January-August of 2014, the dynamics of Armenia’s foreign trade was characterized by apparent growth of exports rate and significant decrease of imports rate – 3.8% vs 1.1% - Armenian News – NEWS.am reports.
Note that in the same period of 2013, there was an opposite trend and while the exports rate increased by 8.9%, the imports rate increased only by 0.8%.
The most significant decline was recorded in the export of minerals, mainly of metal ores and concentrates (-26.4%), ready-to-eat foods (-3.5%), and equipment and devices (-1.5%).
Note that while the export of minerals was characterized by an increase (14,900 tons up), in value terms there was a decline of $16.5 million as the average price of ore and copper concentrate declined markedly from $1749 to $1281 per ton.
