If Georgia becomes a NATO member state, there will be no changes in its relations with Armenia.
Ambassador William (Bill) Lahue, the NATO Liaison Officer for the South Caucasus Region, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am, commenting on whether Armenia and Georgia will find themselves in different security systems if Georgia joined NATO.
In the ambassador’s words, each NATO member state decides its foreign policy and relations with other countries on its own.
As per Lahue, Georgia, as a sovereign state, itself will decide the nature of its relations with Armenia, and NATO has nothing to do with it.
Bill Lahue added that NATO will solely provide defense to Georgia.
