YEREVAN. – The South Caucasus Railway Company will be selling Russian train tickets in Armenia.

Company Passenger Transportation Department Head Gagik Movsesyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that they are planning on starting selling Russian railway tickets at their ticket offices in Armenia in one month.

In his words, Mineralnye Vody, which is the nearest railway station to the Upper Lars checkpoint on the Russian-Georgian border, is planned to be made the main point of departure for Armenia’s passengers.

Movsesyan added that as a result of their conversations with the Armenian automobile transporters that are working in Russia, they have come to the conclusion that not solely the traditional routes, but numerous other ones—all the way to Vladivostok—will enjoy great demand by Armenians.

“According to our calculations, the bus+train route’s cost will be cheaper than a plane ticket. As for the luggage, the carriage of a 36-kg cargo is free on the Russian railway,” Gagik Movsesyan added.
