The Moscow Municipal Court has removed from consideration Russian-Armenian businessman Levon Hayrapetyan’s appeal whereby the extension of his detention was contested, Rapsinews.ru reported citing the Court press service.
Hayrapetyan’s attorneys have withdrawn the appeal, since a Moscow district court recently ruled that the businessman be placed under house arrest.
On October 3, and granting the investigator’s motion, a Moscow district court ruled in favor of releasing Hayrapetyan from prison and placing him under house arrest.
Levon Hayrapetyan, 65, was detained in a Moscow airport on July 15 and subsequently arrested. On July 24, the Russian Federation Investigation Committee brought two criminal charges against him: embezzlement or misuse, and money laundering. On September 12, however, the Russian-Armenian businessman was charged with fraud, too.
Even though Levon Hayrapetyan has health problems, he was kept in prison until recently. Hayrapetyan’s detention will terminate on December 15.
