Cooperation in the military domain remains an important priority for Armenia. President Serzh Sargsyan, who is in the Belarusian capital city of Minsk on a working visit, stated the aforesaid in his address at Friday’s meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council.   

In his words, Voronezh, Russia, and Kulob (Kulyab), Tajikistan, are planned to be declared CIS cultural capitals next year and 2015 will be declared the Year of Education.   

“We hope that the implementation of these decisions will contribute to the strengthening of ties, the development of contacts, and the expansion of tourism exchanges in our common humanitarian space.

“These projects are entirely consistent with our policy toward providing a high quality education and creating a knowledge-based economy in Armenia; these domains are declared national priority in our country. 

“Armenia supports further strengthening of the CIS, developing of cooperation with the CIS member states,” Serzh Sargsyan stated, in particular.
