YEREVAN. – Armenia’s security is the most important in the country’s Eurasian Economic Union (EaEU) accession. World Armenian Congress and Union of Armenians of Russia Chairman, large businessman Ara Abrahamyan noted the above-said at a press conference on Monday, and added that improving the country’s economic situation is important, too.

He noted that the World Armenian Congress and the Union of Armenians of Russia days are held these days in Armenia, and along the lines of this event, they are going to hold discussions to figure out what they can do to make sure Armenia’s EaEU accession takes place without any problems.

As per Abrahamyan, there is no country in the world that does not depend on another country after signing an international agreement.

“But there is no threat to our [, Armenia’s,] security; there are solely some restrictions on certain matters, and they are economic in nature.

“[Armenian President] Serzh Sargsyan will not allow a threat to Karabakh-Nagorno, or for problems to arise on the border issue. What is more, Armenia’s joining the Eurasian Economic Union will help develop Nagorno-Karabakh’s economy,” he noted.

Abrahamyan added that if we compare the European Union and the EaEU propositions, the latter’s proposals are more beneficial for Armenia.

Armenia signed, on October 10 in the Belarusian capital city of Minsk, the treaty on accession to the Eurasian Economic Union.
