YEREVAN. – Prosperous Armenia leader Gagik Tsarukyan is not interested in running for a president, spokesperson for the party Tigran Urikhanyan said.

However, Urikhanyan added that Tsarukyan will participate in presidential race if “the people see the need”.

“Before the presidential election a person decides whether to participate in presidential race or not. Prior to the presidential election in 2013 Tsarukyan did not say that he would stand as a candidate. Now he gave a very clear answer,” Urikhanyan said during a press conference on Monday.

“Tsarukyan has repeatedly stated he was not interested in the post. Another thing, if people see a need, then Tsarukyan will take this step”.

Last week Tsarukyan said he is ready to nominate his candidacy for president.
