YEREVAN. – The results of parliamentary elections showed that the citizens of Ukraine have made their choice in favor of European integration, Ukrainian Ambassador Ivan Kukhta told reporters on Wednesday.
Most of Ukrainians voted for pro-European parties of the president and prime minister as well as for the party of ex-PM Tymoshenko, he said. The coalition is likely to be formed soon, and the parliament will start working.
Ukrainian diplomat emphasized that international observers said the elections were democratic and transparent. According to him, Ukrainian authorities will bring legislation and economy in accordance with the European standards to pose the question of EU membership in the future.
As to Russia's response, Ivan Kukhta said that on the whole Russian side's response was positive.
