It is too early to make any conclusions on the real objective of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s visit to the region, the head of ARF Dashnaktsutyun parliamentary group Vahan Hovhannisyan told journalists.

He noted that she had planned to visit the region earlier but the visit was put off. “If Clinton had arrived in the region earlier, it would be clear the reason was the Armenian-Turkish relations, but now it is difficult to draw any conclusions,” he said.

Hovahnnisyan also emphasized that one should not have special expectations from the forthcoming meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani FMs in Almaty.

The ARFD leader refused to comment on the recent report by the Freedom House labeling Armenia as a country with semi-authoritarian regime. “This organization is carrying out its own tasks, which do not at all meet our interests. So I am not going to comment on this report,” he added.
