YEREVAN. – The prefect of Yeghnik village of Armenia’s Aragatsotn Region, Ashot Arakelyan, has come to the Government Building, early in the morning on Saturday, to discuss with Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan the scarce drinking water issue of the village. 

Arakelyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am, however, that it is still unknown how this matter will be resolved.

The village residents blame Aragatsotn Governor Sargis Sahakyan for the still-unsolved drinking water problem in their village, and the enmity that has arisen with neighboring Shgharshik village because of this issue.    

The Yeghnik villagers on Thursday had blocked the Yerevan-Gyumri highway demanding a solution to the problem.  

The Aragatsotn Regional Governor’s Office, on the other hand, told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the matter is being resolved, and the drinking water shall be distributed equally to both villages.   

The Yeghnik residents, however, threaten to block the highway again if the problem is not finally solved in the near future.
