The cadets at Turkey’s military schools have been prohibited from watching the Game of Thrones television series, Lenta.ru reported citing the local media.
The country’s armed forces have added the respective article in the military education rules.
According to the persons behind this initiative, such a ban shall keep the cadets away from “sexual exploitation, pornography, violence, encroachment, and other negative conduct.”
The source recalled that, in August 2012, four officers of the Turkish armed forces were dismissed from the army for “insulting the Turkish nation,” when they had started to show this TV series to the Military Academy cadets during the English-language courses.
Turkey’s senior commanders did not like the fact that the Game of Thrones has excessive improper scenes, which do not correspond to the spirit of disciplining the young military officers. In addition, the senior commanders were infuriated by the excessive use of alcohol by the characters in this series.
