YEREVAN. – The National Assembly (NA) of Armenia started Tuesday’s session by paying tribute to the seven people who lost their lives in Monday’s fatal road crash in the Shirak Region.   

Opposition Armenian National Congress NA Faction member Nikol Pashinyan made the respective motion.

“I call upon the government and the Ministry of Communication and Transport to finally pay attention to that notorious intersection [where the tragic accident had occurred],” Pashinyan added. 

Subsequently, the MPs stood a minute of silence in memory of the victims of this crash.

Seven people in a passenger minibus were burned alive in a tragic road accident on Armenia’s Gyumri-Yerevan highway on Monday evening, as the minibus had crashed into a truck. As a result, the minibus had caught fire, seven passengers were burned alive, and another seven were hospitalized. The Police regional department of investigation has launched a criminal investigation, and the truck driver, M. Vardanyan, is detained.
