The Gyumri Municipality will provide assistance to the injured, and the families of those who lost their lives in Monday’s tragic road accident in Armenia’s Shirak Region.

The Gyumri mayor’s press secretary, Lilit Makaryan, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

She noted that monetary assistance will be provided to the injured, to take care of their treatment costs, and to the families of the dead, in all likelihood, in connection with the funeral expenses of their loved ones who died.

The city council shall determine the amount of money to be allocated.

Most of those killed and injured in the accident are from Gyumri.     

Seven people in a passenger minibus were burned alive in a tragic road accident on Armenia’s Gyumri-Yerevan highway on Monday evening, as the minibus had crashed into a truck. As a result, the minibus had caught fire, seven passengers were burned alive, and another seven were hospitalized. The Police regional department of investigation has launched a criminal investigation, and the truck driver, M. Vardanyan, is detained.
