Yerevan’s official stance on Karabakh might be regarded as a passive and retreating one, the Heritage Party MP Larisa Alaverdyan told journalists on July 2.

Alaverdyan noted that during Hillary Clinton’s visit to Armenia the authorities should use more precise and realistic wordings.

“Clinton’s visit will not be a problem if the authorities speak a legal language instead of applying unaddressed and weak terms. It is not enough just to say ‘we stand for a peaceful solution to the Karabakh conflict’. It is obvious that each country wants to develop in peace and stability,” she noted. Alaverdyan stressed Armenia must change its policy, as “our diplomacy leads Armenia to conflict situations and deadlocks. Armenia’s passive position prevents the world from understanding what we really want,” she concluded.
