The football diplomacy is “successfully” dead and one should not expect anything till the year end, the former NKR Foreign Minister Arman Melikyan told journalists on July 2, responding to a question as to whether Clinton’s visit will make any breakthrough in Armenia-Turkey normalization process.

“Following the football logic and regular World Cup, we can think the word ‘football’ will perhaps be repeated in four years. However, the normalization process is successfully dead. Turkey comes up with new initiatives and will present new demands to Armenia and to the international community. I do not think it will succeed. However Turkey taught a good lesson to Armenia,” Melikyan said.

According to him, Armenia should draw conclusions and think of not worsening the situation by making hasty steps.

On April 23, RA President Serzh Sargsyan suspended the ratification of the Armenia-Turkey Protocols, expecting adequate steps from Turkey.
