The recent act of sabotage by Azerbaijan, killing 4 Armenian soldiers is a kind of message not to the Armenian side but Washington and Ankara, said the director of the Armenian Center for National and International Studies (ACNIS), Richard Giragosian speaking at round-table discussions today.

According to him, Azerbaijan did everything to destabilize the situation in the region on the eve of Hillary Clinton’s visit to show Washington that it is hurt. The expert noted that Baku has realized that acts of sabotage is the best way to undermine Armenian-Turkish reconciliation process, as they show Ankara Azerbaijan’s concerns over ongoing processes.

“Baku is aggrieved at OSCE Minsk Group and wants to shift talks on Karabakh to another format.  Thus, Azerbaijan is angry with everyone: Ankara, as feels betrayed, Washington – as considers it is underestimated by the White House,” the expert stated.

Richard Giragosian considers that Azerbaijan should be informed of the fact that sabotage and war will not promote its image in the eyes of world community. According to him, the Russian-Georgian August war has demonstrated that military approach is not the best solution to the conflicts.
