The control stock of the Russian-Armenian gas main will not be sold, a representative of the ArmRusgasprom CJSC told NEWS.am. He pointed out that the company discussed the possibility of selling the gas main with its Georgian partners and found out that only part of the stock will be put up for sale.
The company’s representative restated that the sale of the gas main will not affect gas transit to Armenia.
No information on the Gasprom Company’s intention to purchase the gas main stock is available yet. Gasprom is the principle stockholder of ArmRusgasprom.
NEWS.am reported earlier that Pavel Kublashvili, the Chairman of the Committee for Legal Affairs, Georgian Parliament, proposed a sale of the gas main.
Speaking in Parliament on July 2, Georgian Prime Minister Nikoloz Gilauri stated the possibility of putting 10-15 per cent of the gas main shares up for sale at the London Stock Exchange.
Media reports also say Azerbaijan intends to purchase the shares.
