The border between Armenia and Turkey can be open only in case of a package agreement and this refers both to the settlement of Turkey-Armenia and Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, adviser to Turkish PM Etyen Mahcupyan said in an interview with the Voice of Russia.

“April 24 is a symbolic date and its approaching exacerbates radicalism on this issue in the Armenian society. They are speaking about the issue with the most uncompromising position,”he said.

Mahcupyan does not believe that Turkey will take some kind of action that will satisfy demands of the Armenian side.

“With such an approach from the Armenian side, any concessions on the part of Turkey on genocide and opening the borders is impossible,” he assured.

According to Mahcupyan who is Armenian by origin, any steps on the part of Turkey, if taken, will follow a year later “when the dust settles ”.

He recalled that this year for the first time in the history of the country, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his condolences and called the events “common pain for two nations”.

According to him, “this is a certain level below which the Turkish side will not fall in any case.”
