There will be no specific movement in the Armenian-Turkish reconciliation process by this September, Ruben Safrastyan, the Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, told journalists on Thursday. According to him, Turkey’s ruling elite is not interested in the early normalization of diplomatic relations with Armenia.

“The recent visit of Secretary Clinton to the South Caucasus indirectly proves that U.S. is discontent with Turkey’s policy on Armenia. The phrase ‘ball is in Turkey’s court’ voiced by Clinton should be considered as such,” said Safrastayan, adding that Turkey in its turn tries to buy time. “Turkey carries out Genocide denial policy and hopes that it will once again manage to agree with U.S. and avoid a conflict,” he noted.
