YEREVAN. – The tension continued for some time after the incident that occurred in the Tavush Region, the Armenian defense minister’s press secretary, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He noted that the Armenian military units appropriately responded to all the shots that were fired. And based on international humanitarian norms, the Armenian Armed Forces permitted the Azerbaijani side to retrieve the dead body of one of its saboteurs from the inter-positional area.

“The corresponding rapid response unit of the Armenian army intercepted and neutralized the operations of the [Azerbaijani] sabotage team that violated the state border of Armenia.

“Unfortunately, [Armenian] shepherd Seryozha Sargsyan (born in 1935), who was in the area, also was killed during the exchange of fire,” Hovhannisyan had earlier written in his Facebook account.
