YEREVAN. – The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Armenia awaits, within the next one or two months, official Tehran’s decision to continue the construction of the third Iran-Armenia high-voltage electricity transmission line.
The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Yervand Zakharyan, noted the abovementioned at a press conference on Wednesday.
He recalled that Iran’s national bank had halted the construction in the previous two years, and an Armenian delegation had arrived in the country in October 2014.
“Our partners have assured us that the funding [for the construction] will be restored in the near future; a respective agreement was signed,” the minister stated.
This project is expected to cost 107,900,000 euros, which the Iranian side will allocate as a loan.
Two electricity transmission lines are currently operating between Armenia and Iran.
