YEREVAN. – President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on Tuesday received Alexander Bastrykin, the Head of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
Sargsyan noted that the recent tragedy, which occurred in Gyumri city, demands that all of its circumstances are ascertained with an unprecedented consistency. The President underscored that the cooperation between the law enforcement of the two countries in the investigation of this crime needs to continue effectively, and the process that has started shall reach its logical end.
The Russian official, for his part, noted that they, together with their Armenian colleagues, have a full understanding and a clear idea as to how the competent Russian agencies should assist the ongoing investigation by the Armenian law enforcement. Within this framework, as per Bastrykin, the actions by the respective Russian agencies aim to ensure a comprehensive examination of all versions of the murder and all the circumstances of the case, an exposure of the perpetrators, and an inevitability of their bringing to account.
Alexander Bastrykin also expressed confidence that the open court trial, which will be conducted in Armenia on this case, will become a testimony of the two countries’ desire to achieve justice.
