On July 15, Director of the Armenian Rescue Service, First Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia Edik Barseghyan was appointed Governor of Ararat Marz at the governmental session on July 15.

RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan stressed the former Governor Vardges Hovakimyan resigned according to his application.

According to the coalition quota, the position of Governor of Ararat Marz belongs to the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).

Barseghyan joined has recently joined the party when the rumors on his appointment became clear.
