EU to leave South Caucasus?

The closing of the EU Special Representative’s office in Armenia is under discussion now, EU Special Representative in the region Peter Semneby told reporters.

No specific decision has yet been made. It has to do with the activities of the new EU diplomatic service, Semneby said. He promised that the South Caucasus will not be deprived of the EU’s attention.

Several weeks ago EU Catherine Ashton, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, did not rule out the possibility of abolishing the post of EU Special Representative for the south Caucasus.
