A global association of the Armenian film makers will be created in the near future, the General Director of the Golden Apricot film festival Harutyun Khachatryan told the journalists on Thursday.

The association is aimed at assisting the Armenian directors living in different countries and having no financial aid to create a film.

Canadian director of the Armenian origin Atom Egoyan, as well as Alain Terzian, Serge Avedikian and Harutyun Khachatryan came up with the idea.

At the initial stage, the association will be funded by the originators, but the organizer of the Golden Apricot film festival stated he would do his utmost to involve the Culture and Diaspora Ministries, as well as the Armenian Premier in the project.

The organization will have branches around the world with the headquarters in Yerevan. Harutyun Khachatryan also added that Atom Egoyan will head the Canadian branch, whereas Alain Terzian – the French one.
