Turkish director Semih Kaplanoglu stated that in his films he expresses his personal attitude towards Turkey's domestic issues and its problems with the neighboring sates.

Speaking to the journalists in Yerevan on Saturday, Kaplanoglu noted he believes political problems are in people's souls. Politics will not solve any problems, unlike a film that might arouse feelings.

Unlike another Turkish Director Fatih Akin who thinks that the Armenian-Turkish relations are based on fear, Kaplanoglu believes there is no fear, there is just something hidden people are unaware of. There is some pain and we should speak about it, the director emphasized.  

He also stated that would like his friend Hrant Dink to be here.

Semih Kaplanoglu is one of the Turkish intellectuals who joined the signature campaign, apologizing for the massacres of Armenians in Ottoman Empire in the beginning of the 20th century.

The Turkish director arrived in Armenia to participate in the Golden Apricot international film festival as a member of jury. "Honey" by Semih Kaplanoglu was screened within the framework of the festival.
