YEREVAN. – Armenian leader's decision to withdraw the Armenian-Turkish protocols from parliament does not speak about deterioration of relations between the two countries, Russian lawmaker said.

Yerevan is waiting for Ankara's reciprocal steps in the negotiating process, Vladimir Dzhabarov, deputy chairman of the International Committee of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, told RIA Novosti.

“This is not deterioration of relations, there are no prerequisites for the deterioration of relations between the two countries. This is a statement of fact, the President calls on Turkey to step up,” he added.

In his opinion, Armenia wants the Turkish side to actively participate in the negotiation process, and the dialogue between countries will continue. 

“They need to meet, discuss what to do next,” the lawmaker said.

Earlier on Monday President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan addressed speaker of the Armenian parliament Galust Sahakyan informing about his decision to recall Armenia-Turkey protocols from the parliament.
