Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan met with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki. The Armenian Minister called for expansion of bilateral ties. Ohanyan pointed out Iran’s strategic role in the Middle East, saying Armenia is ready to strengthen economic and defense relations.

The sides exchanged views on bilateral ties and economic cooperation, as well as discussed regional and international issues, ISNA reports.  

Manouchehr Mottaki stressed the importance to resolve regional security issues through an “inter-regional mechanism”, calling for expansion of cooperation between Tehran and Yerevan.
