Chairman of Van Chamber of Commerce and Industry Zahir Kandasoglu criticized the anti-Armenian statement by Kars Governor Ahmet Kara, Turkish Beyazgazete website reports.

Kandasoglu recalled since the establishment of Turkish Republic, the eastern region of Turkey lags behind in development.

According to him, they had been working all the day long to develop economy and to attract foreign capital in their region.

Kandasoglu stressed in defiance of their efforts, Governor of Kars greatly disappointed them with his statement on the Armenian issue.

According to him, as members of Van Chamber of Commerce and Industry, they consider Kara’s statement ‘Armenians killed us, not vice versa’ “inadequate” and believe the Governor should not be engaged in such discussions.

Kandasoglu noted they should do our utmost to open border with Armenia, to organize export and import with their neighbors and ensure prosperity of the region.  “We expect Kars Governor’s assistance on the matter,” he emphasized.

As NEWS.am reported previously, a month ago Chairmen of the Armenian and Van Chambers of Commerce and Industry signed a memorandum of cooperation in Yerevan.
