One should not link Armenia’s political, economic and social developments with the Karabakh peace process and Armenian-Turkish reconciliation, Prosperous Armenia parliamentary group MP and Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Vardan Bostanjyan told the journalists on Tuesday.

“I do not want to link all these issues, as country’s development is our problem,” Bodtanjyan said, adding that the mentioned problems have other factors, such as external interference and interests of world powers.

He also added that the Karabakh conflict cannot be resolved as Armenia wants it to be. “It also cannot be solved to Azerbaijan’s liking,” he noted.

Bostanjyan considers that hostilities are unlikely to resume in the Karabakh conflict zone. “They will not let it,” the MP stressed. The politician deems that in fact Armenia cannot make any concessions on the Karabakh peace process. “Armenia can afford to speak of any concessions comforming to ethical rules, but I cannot imagine it practically. Azerbaijan, a country that was artificially established in 1918, seems to be a small child acting like “I want  candy”. Azerbaijan obtains our historical territories – Shahumyan and Getashen, it is already a concession, he emphasized.

Bostanjyan stressed that he welcomes progress in the Armenian-Turkish reconciliation. “I never opposed normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations. It will enable Armenia to get into a new market, provide our businessmen with an opportunity to get new economic ties that in its turn will, no doubt, positively affect the country’s economy on the whole,” he concluded.
