The Madrid principles are presently on the negotiating table. They served as a basis for new proposals made in Saint Petersburg, and Azerbaijan has to say if it accepts them or not, RA President Serzh Sargsyan stated at his meeting with representatives of the “Together” youth movement.

“If Azerbaijan says: ‘We accepts the principles submitted by the OSCE Minsk Group,’ the negotiations will go on. If not, other ways will be found. Yes, the negotiations are going on. The latest proposals were made in Saint Petersburg. We say the document affords an opportunity for further negotiations. Let us see what Azerbaijan says,” President Sargsyan said.

Commenting on Azerbaijan’s warlike statements, the Armenian leader pointed out that they are mostly intended for the Azeri public – official Baku is passing the desirable for reality. In their statement made in Almaty, the representatives of the OSCE MG co-chairing countries stressed that the following three principles must underlie the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict: territorial integrity, right to self-determination and nonuse of force. Also, none of the principles must be considered superior to the others.
