The RA Government will facilitate the establishment of cooperative societies in Armenia’s rural regions by amending the RA Law on Consumers’ Cooperatives. At the RA Government’s sitting, RA Minister of Agriculture Gerasim Alaverdyan presented a relevant bill. He stated that the point on at least 30-member staffs is an obstacle to for the establishment of consumer societies.  The Government proposes the removal of this restriction to facilitate the formation of cooperative societies in rural settlements.

International practice necessitates the amendments, which were originally proposed by the RA Public Council.

If adopted, the amendments will facilitates the development of cooperative societies, which, it turn, will cause an increase in agricultural output. Cooperative societies are one of the most effective methods of economic management.
