Armenicum drug can be used not only by HIV-patients but is also effective against various types of flu, including swine flu, Levon Gevorgyan, Armenicum project manager, told NEWS.am. He pointed out extensive research has been carried out since the drug was created, and new areas of its application have been found.

This year, at the Erebuni medical center, the drug was used in treating swine flu patients and proved effective.

“Many swine flu patients died in other countries, but Armenicum saved many in Armenia,” Gevorgyan said.

Armenicum is a harmless drug and effective immunomodulator.

“At present, any Armenian citizen has the right to get the drug for preventive treatment,” Gevorgyan said. He pointed out that Armenicum is an affordable drug.

Armenicum is produced as tablets, injections and ointment. The ointment is effective against burns and some skin diseases.

Gevorgyan said that Armenicum is also exported, but in small amount.
