The coming political autumn will end in an Iran-related crisis, as well as wars on the territories neighboring on Iran, the RA Parliament member Vardan Khachatryan told NEWS.am. He also forecasts a new wave of economic crisis, which, according to western publications, will make itself felt early this November.

As regards Armenia, Khachatryan forecasts the aggravation of domestic problems, which, in turn, may result in new political realignments. “It will to a great extent be the result of rather grave economic problems and external pressure,” Khachatryan said. Among external factors be pointed out the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process, which “has become the focus of world attention and gave considerable weight to the Armenian-Turkish process.”

“Any change in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process certainly has a corresponding impact on Armenia’s domestic political life,” Khachatryan said. As to which problem will be the most serious one this autumn, Khachatryan expressed the confidence that it is the Nagorno-Karabakh problem. According to him, the Turkish authorities’ rhetoric has not recently allowed for the possibility of any serious changes. Turkey continues setting preconditions, trying to meddle in the peace process.

As regards the possibility of the formation of a new political force as an alternative to both the authorities and the Opposition, Khachatryan said: “I am sure the present situation is favorable for that. I would not like to go into details, as it is a relative process. Time will come and we will see everything.”
