An agreement on a U.S. $70m credit to Tajikistan was signed in Dushanbe on July 24. The funds will be allocated from the anti-crisis fund of the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC or EurAsEC).

The 20-year credit will be allocated at an annual interest rate of 1%, the grace period being 5 years.

The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) was founded on the initiative of Presidents of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan. An inter-state agreement to that effect was signed on 12 January 2006 during the official visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Kazakhstan. The Bank formally commenced its activity in June 2006 following the enactment of laws on ratification of that agreement by the Presidents of Russia and Kazakhstan and the first meeting of its Council.
The EDB chartered capital exceeds US$1.5 billion.

Armenia and Tajikistan joined the Bank in 2009 and Belarus in June 2010.
