It is necessary to remember the lessons learnt from WWII and unite the efforts of the international community in face of the threat of new challenges, Armenia’s FM Eduard Nalbandyan told TASS Russian news agency before the planned meeting with Russia’s FM Sergey Lavrov on Tuesday.
“The WWII Victory Day is special for Armenians as well as for all the peoples of the Soviet Union, who played a decisive role in the struggle against Fascism. No Armenian family was left unaffected by that war,” Mr. Nalbandyan said.
He noted that many Armenians sacrificed their lives for the sake of the general victory, many of them becoming heroes. In fact, more than 100 people were bestowed the highest award of the time - the title ‘Hero of the Soviet Union.
“It is important to remember the lessons learnt from WWII, honor the memory of the victims and not forget the feats of those who fought for the victory," he said.
