The Jagatsi Dzor CJSC, in association with the Green Land Investment Company, is implementing a program in the village of Gokht, Kotayk region. Two small HPPs have been constructed under the program, which helped resolve the irrigation problem.
Jobs have been created and the environmental situation improved.
Irrigated cropping areas annually increase by 15 hectares. The Green Land Investment Company laid out orchards in an area of 73 hectares – 30,000 fruit trees have been planted there. Markos Gharibyan, Jagatsi Dzor Director, said that both the HPPs were constructed within 15 months.
“What has been done since 2008 is only the first component of a large-scale program. About U.S. $m have been invested in the program,” he said.
