YEREVAN. – On the occasion of the Yerkrapah (Defenders of the Land) Day, a cross-stone park officially opened Friday at the fully-renovated Yerkrapah Volunteer Union (YVU) Headquarters in capital city Yerevan (PHOTOS).
The event brought together YVU Board Chairman Manvel Grigoryan, Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, National Assembly President Galust Sahakyan, and several other senior officials.
Members of the clergy blessed fifteen cross-stones, each of them representing an Armenian historic event.
In addition, a shrine, a learning center for the Young Yerkrapahs, a physical training square, a library, and a museum also formally opened on the same day at the YVU Headquarters.
Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan noted that the Armenian Yerkrapahs have had a special role in the Karabakh War.
YVU Board Chairman Manvel Grigoryan, for his part, congratulated the Armenian people on the Yerkrapah Day, and stated that the Armenians will get stronger and become even more combat-ready.
After the opening of the cross-stone park, those in attendance headed for the Yerablur Military Pantheon, where they placed flowers to the tombs of the fallen Armenian soldiers of the Karabakh War.
