YEREVAN. – Chairman of the Armenian Veterans' Committee, famous intelligence officer Colonel Petros Petrosyan is an author of the “Chapter of Intelligence Officers' History” book.

In an interview with Armenian News-NEWS.am, Colonel Petrosyan told about the years of war, the suffered wounds and his service.

After breaking out from the encirclement and suffering serious wounds, Petros Petrosyan, who was 19 then, was awarded the Order of the Red Star. After the war, Petros Petrosyan entered the Faculty of International Relations of Yerevan State University. In 1949 he became an intelligence officer and worked in intelligence until 2003. During ten years he performed tasks in different countries: Lebanon, France, U.S., Egypt and Iraq. He speaks five languages.

“Not every person can work for intelligence. It is a job for people who are devoted to their homeland. Honesty, courage and self-restraint are the main features of an intelligence officer,” Petrosyan said.

His sons did not follow father's lead, but grandfather's hope is his grandson – 10 years old Petros.

“It is easier to work now thanks to the development of equipment. There is a good intelligence school in Armenia, and I hope the next generation will work better than we did,” Petrosyan added.
